After being on the hunt for a new/used children’s saddle for G, we finally settled on a Pony Pessoa. As a mother of a pony rider and in talking to other mothers of pony riders (including my mom, mother of three pony riders, and my two sisters, each mothers of three pony riders, respectively, totaling nine pony riders in my immediate family) the Pony Pessoa appeared to be the saddle of choice and “the” pony saddle. The saddle we purchased is in mint condition and should fit G and a range of ponies/horses for quite some time. Discussions indicated that these saddles hold up well and maintain resale value, both great points. Further discussions noted that these saddles can fit a small pony up to a small TB.
The saddle fit both pony and G well. After tacking up, we handwalked out of the barn through the indoor and then outside. We circled the barn a few times with pony in hand. G took it all in enjoying as he walked alongside. He then decided he wanted to get on and happily did so. Another proud moment for me, mom of a new pony rider.
After enjoying our stroll outside, we headed back in, untacked and cooled out. G put his own brushes away in the tack room and helped sweep up his grooming stall, important tasks for any horsewoman and horseman.
