Growing up my mom always gave us Christmas advent calendars that were filled with chocolate, a present, or a picture of an ornament — a little surprise as she would say. It was quite fun opening up a day in anticipation of Christmas Day. So the other morning, I started looking for Christmas Advent calendars for our son so that he could countdown the days until Santa’s arrival. Soon after I started my research, I realized that while the traditional advent calendars remain readily available for purchase and still popular, there are so many new, unique, and personal options out there — e.g. reusable wooden decor items that you can fill with items of your choice, ones for dogs and cats with tasty treats, makeup and beauty samples, 12 days of wine (yes, please!), and ones with sock sets to share to name a few. Who knew that Christmas advent calendars had become so personalized? I was delighted. My search became quite fun and then I had a hard time deciding which one to purchase and for whom.
