Happy Friday! With 2020 rapidly coming to a close, the holiday season is right around the corner. With this in mind, I have started researching the best gifts for little boys for 2020. My inspiration—our own little gem of a sweet boy. While not an exhaustive list, I think it is a beneficial to have a mix of items, i.e. arts + crafts, books/educational items, toys, board games, and clothing items. I am sure this list will grow and my ideas continue as I get direction from G, holiday catalogs continue to funnel in (thanks Target + Amazon!), and as I get ideas from friends and family. That said, here is a preliminary list of suggestions and all items are linked below (just click on the image to shop):
Arts + Crafts // Creativity is wonderful as it is not only an act self-expression but also a vital part of chid development. Studies show that through creative and imaginative play, children grow emotionally, socially, intellectually, and even physically. My mom is an artist and growing up we always had art supplies around and were encouraged to do art and craft projects. I am constantly purchasing new art supplies and craft projects, especially from Target and Amazon (they have such good selections). Basics are good such as Crayola water colors (always a favorite) and Tempera Paint Sticks which are rich in color and perfect for little hands. Both are washable and all you need is fresh paper and a creative mind. At Target, I noticed this “super” art and craft kit which is already in my cart. It contains a mix of art supplies and comes in a cute carrier which is likewise good for organization. Kinetic Sand is also a fun item which if you have tried it, has the consistency of real beach sand. They are also coming out with kinetic sand kits, e.g. construction toys plus the sand.
Books + Educational Items // I have previously done posts about my favorite children books. I will do this again in the next few weeks. We are currently reading the Velveteen Rabbit, a classic. Current favorites: The National Geographic Kids Series, informative, kid friendly, with lots of beautiful photographs. I linked a few below that I plan to purchase. I also noticed this interactive globe from Amazon which is highly rated. Magna Tiles are also terrific. Finally, we are working on skills such as writing and use of scissors. I have linked below a Melissa & Doug scissor activity book which I plan to purchase. (Click on the links and you can also purchase).
Toys // Anything Hot Wheels or Thomas the Train! Big splurges can include ride on vehicles. We purchased one last year and it is often used.
Board Games // Currently we play Chutes & Ladders, CandyLand, Sequence, Count Your Chickens and Guess Who. What’s on our list right now? Operation & Break the Ice to name a few.
Clothing Items // I will do a separate post on this but my current shopping favorites for little boys’ gear: Lands End & Target.
Weighted Blanket // I have heard so many positive comments about weighted blankets and found this adorable one which comes with a stuffed animal.
Thanks for stopping by,
Gabriella
