The other evening I was closing up our hens in the coop for the day and I noticed that the days were getting shorter. Chickens retreat to their coop at sunset. This practice is obviously quite handy because in the evening hours it would be less than ideal to have to catch and collect one’s chickens one by one, not to mention time consuming. Just a few weeks ago, the hens were heading in about 8:30 pm. If I went out any earlier, they would follow me around and yard. This week, they have been in their coop by 8 pm sharp. I have also noticed the chillier evenings, the leaves beginning to fall, and the mums at Whole Foods! I picked up 2 small ivory mums today for $5/each. Fall also brings autumn and Halloween decor which is so fun and festive. As usual, I gravitate toward farmhouse decor + anything to do with horses or chickens. I have linked a few of my current favorites below.
Candles – While I enjoy a nice fragrance from a candle it is also nice to have a decorative aspect to the candle, e.g. a few linked below have cool exteriors (black w/ white lettering from Amazon soy candle, Target finds with fall themes such as “Fireside” or “Harvest”).
Wreaths + Artificial Flowers – There are so many great fall options right now for artificial ornamental grass, e.g. the Foxtail arrangement from Target. The neutral colors for these grasses are perfect for fall decorating without having your home look overdone. I have wreaths everywhere! Currently, we have the “Welcome to our Homestead” on the front door and two boxwoods in the backyard, including one on the door of the chicken coop.
Kitchen Decor + Storage – I linked a few wooden serving trays which can be used for putting a flower arrangement and a candle or for actually serving food or drink. The wood has a really nice farmhouse look. I linked a few baskets which are great for storage without that plastic look. Finally, you cannot go wrong with decorative pumpkins. I linked a few of my favorites, white, black/white, and rattan. I also really like the “Hello, Fall” sign.
Bathroom – I have recently picked up a few soap dishes and I could not resist the bath rug linked below from Urban Outfitters.
Decorative Pillows – There are so many pretty ones to choose from! Love the green velvet “Gather” and the other neutral options. Pair with a lovely throw and your living area looks cozy. Happy decorating.
Thanks for stopping by, X.
